We are pleased to show just a few examples of our recent projects.
Holy Rood Catholic Infants School
The project: Erect a temporary roof structure. Remove the existing roof, install structural steelwork, raise brickwork walls and construct new roof structure and windows. Convert the newly enlarged roof space into additional classrooms and refurbish the classrooms on the ground floor beneath.
The challenge: Working on such a large project at occupied school premises within a built-up residential area with restricted working space and access.
The clients comments: The Governors pass on their appreciation to all at Needhams for the extremely professional service received during July-December. Needhams completed the ambitious project on schedule. You were extremely approachable and receptive and all the construction staff were keen to work with the school to co-ordinate the various stages of the work to ensure there was minimal disruption to the daily school routine. Thank you to everyone involved in the project for their courtesy and diligence whilst working at the school. All who visit comment on the wonderful extension that we now have.
Diamond Light Source - the UK national synchrotron facility
The project: Construct various steel framed structures above high-voltage transformers in the external centre of the circular building. The structures were designed and constructed to match the architectural design of the original building.
The challenge: There was no direct access for the materials, tools and equipment needed to undertake the project. Everything had to be craned over the synchrotron itself.

Oliver Tomkins Primary School
The project: Construct traditional brick/block work detached building to form new classrooms, including sliding partition wall and with kitchen and toilet facilitites.
The challenge: to firstly lay a fenced temporary trackway across the school playground and playing field during school holidays to provide access to the work area, so that construction work could proceed during term time with very little disruption to the schools daily activities. The new building was completed on budget and in time for the start of the Autumn term.
Our own premises
The project: Design and install mezzanine floor in high-bay industrial unit. Form suite of offices above with kitchen, reception and racked storage facilities below. The project included design and installation of mechanical, electrical & data, laying of vinyl and carpet flooring and decorations.
The challenge: To accomplish the entire fit-out to extremely tight deadlines, with an immovable completion date and a very demanding client!
The clients comments: Coming to work in such a nice bright, airy & spacious environment is a pleasure.
SDC Ltd
The project: Enlarge the existing toilets, install new internal and external drainage connections, upgrade and refurbish staff toilet facilities. Remove partitions, install mechanical and electrical services, lay new vinyl flooring and decorations to form new staff canteen.
